Born in Oświęcim, 1976; studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław (graduated in 2001); currently honing her artistic skills at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf; Grant from the City of Oświęcim in 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2009; numerous artistic awards, including: Friedrich H.J. Schneider-Stiftung, Düsseldorf (2006); Hedwig und Robert Samuel-Stiftung, Düsseldorf (2007), Darmstädter Sezession, Darmstadt, Germany (2008) and the Grand Prize at the 'Rybie Oko' [fish eye] Fifth Biennial of Young Artists in Słupsk (Poland) 2008; Her artistic activity covers drawing and sculpture, which is evocative of both the interim period between the two World Wars and the present day. Her work focuses on mass culture icons and various attributes of modern living which, upon the artist’s interpretation, acquire symbolic and timeless dimensions. For her ‘ascetic’ sculptures the artist uses mastic – a natural material little known in the world of art. Her entire creative work draws from her involvement in drama (stage designer and actress mainly in Velvets Black & Light Theater in Wiesbaden).
