Krzysztof Marek Bak, born February 3, 1977 in Bielsko-Biała. He is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, graduating in 2002.
Academic lecturer, doctor of art. Professionally associated with the University of Silesia, where he serves as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Arts in Cieszyn, he is also Head of the Department of Graphic Arts at the UŚ Art Institute. Creator of more than 1,700 ex-librises and small graphic forms, for which he uses digital techniques. He has presented his works in nearly 100 solo exhibitions at home and abroad, including an exhibition of his works at the Widzew Ekslibris Gallery in Lodz in 2012 (Far Eastern motifs in Krzysztof Marek Baek's exlibrises). He has participated in nearly 200 national and international group exhibitions, where he has received numerous awards and honors.
In his works, he usually uses animal motifs, is fond of using metaphor, symbol and allegory, and the author's inspiration by surrealism allows a wide interpretation of his work.
In addition to his work in the field of fine arts, he is engaged in writing. Under the pseudonym K.M. Bakow, he has published a series of detective stories about commissioner Edyta Orlowska and The Castle on the Hill, the plot of which is set within the walls of the Bielsko-Biala Historical Museum.
He lives in Bielsko-Biała.
