Born in Łódź, 1960; studied at the Department of Painting and Graphic Arts of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź (1979–1985), degree in Woodcutting under Prof Andrzej Bartczak (1985) and in Painting under Prof Stanisław Fijałkowski; studied Philosophy at the University of Łódź (1982–1985); since 1991 employed at the Department of Elementary Studies of Composition (Faculty of Fabric and Clothing) of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź; professor at the Academy Fine Arts in Łódź since 2007. Although his paintings are not faithful reflections of reality, the artist strives to imitate certain natural phenomena, such as parched earth, ripples on a body of water or opalescent colours of certain rocks. In order to achieve such effects he uses various techniques, some devised by himself. Thus, he sands paintings, makes cuts in them which he later fills with paint, uses Intarsia, etc. The artist participated in many collective exhibitions including the 34th Polish National Painting Exhibition “Bielska Jesień 1999” organized by Galeria Bielska BWA at which he won the Grand Prize; he was also a juror at the competition in 2003.
