Born in Podkowa Leśna, 1946. Between 1964 and 1968 he studied mathematics at the University of Warsaw, between 1970 and 1971 logic in Warsaw Theological Academy in Warsaw. Musician, painter, action artist, documentary photographer.
He translates texts from English.

Associated with counter-culture of late 60s.  Between 1970 and 1975 he dealt with alternative art, photography and music; a guitar player, he co-founded Grupa w Składzie band, of which he was an actual leader (in 2008 the band has taken up playing again on the occasion of the premiere of Burnt documentary held in The Centre of Contemporary Art in Warsaw). Connected with conceptual trend in art and with Repassage galleries, Dziekanka gallery, Stodoła gallery, Zero Museum in Warsaw and El Gallery in Elbląg, which in 70s enabled experimenting artists present their works.

In 1978 he won Attitudes photographic competition in Kraków. He presented his works in Mała Galeria of the Photographers Association in Warsaw; he presented solo exhibitions in galleries such as: Repassage, Remont and Dziekanka in Warsaw in Allersm’s villa in Einzige, Netherlands. In 2010 he presented his artistic achievements in a retrospective in Art NEW media gallery in Warsaw.

In 2013 Galeria Bielska BWA organized a retrospective exhibition for the artist entitled "Jacek Malicki: EXTRAVANTGARDE 1966–1988. Paintings, graphics, photography and painting on photography"; curated by Jerzy Truszkowski. Most of the works presented at the exhibition (Galeria Bielska BWA, Klubokawiarnia Aquarium, 14.09 – 27.10.2013): paintings, works on paper, prints and photographs were acquired by the Gallery for The Art Collection of Galeria Bielska BWA. 20 paintings were purchased – purchase subsidized by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, program –  Collections, 2014, while 15 works on paper were donated by the artist to the Gallery.

Several of his works are exhibited in the International Museum of Photography in Lausanne.

He writes essays for Życie Warszawy, Integracje, Canadian Art Review and other periodicals.
