Małgorzata Mirga-Tas

About artist

Born in 1978 in Zakopane; graduate of the Faculty of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków; degree under Professor Józef Sękowski (2004); graduate of the Antoni Kenar Secondary School of Fine Arts in Zakopane; scholarship from the American Administration – the International Visitor Leadership Program on “Promoting Social Good Through the Arts” (US, 2015); participated in the International Plein Air Workshop of Romani Sculpture, Museum of Roma Culture, Brno (Czech Republic, 2012). Lecturer at the extramural pedagogical studies at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. The artist is involved in various social projects and works to combat exclusion, racial discrimination and xenophobia. She also participates in conferences and projects related to the Roma community. In her paintings she uses intense colours combined with strong contour. She paints scenes witnessed on Roma settlements, and involving people, animals, plants and objects of everyday use.
