Born in Kraków, 1958; studied under Associate Professor Stanisław Kluska and Associate Professor Roman Nowotarski at the Katowice-based Faculty of Kraków’s Academy of Fine Arts; graduated in 1984 obtaining a diploma in Book Design and in Painting. His fields of interest include drawing, painting, publishing graphics, posters and photography. Since 1992 he has been collaborating with the international Group D, based in Dachau, Germany. Recipient of two scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and Arts. Creator of series of drawings executed in ink on paperboard including Holzmachiny, Oratio, Warchoły and Battleships. His works have been presented at nearly 400 exhibitions in Poland and other countries. His drawings have received more than forty awards and honorary mentions at national and international exhibitions, including three awards presented by the Minister of Culture. Winner of many awards and prizes including the First Prize at the 7th International Biennial of Drawing in Pilsen (2010, Second Prize in 2002), the Grand Prize in the “Artistic Creation of the Year” competition held in Katowice (2006, 2003, joint winner in 2005), the Grand Prize in international drawing competitions in Barcelona (2004, 2003), the Minister of Culture Prize at the “Tarnowskie Klimaty” Biennale in Tarnów (2003), and the First Prize at the Triennial of Contemporary Polish Drawings in Lubaczów (2002), the Grand Prize of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage at the Third Triennial of Self-Portrait in Radom (2000) and the Grand Prize at the 6th “Majdanek 2000” International Triennial of Art in Lublin.
