Born in Jelenia Góra, 1946; studied under Prof Adam Marczyński at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, from which he graduated with honours receiving his diploma in Painting in 1974. From 1982 to 1986 he was a lecturer in Drawing at his alma mater. Later he taught basic courses in Drawing at Silesian University in Cieszyn and worked as a lecturer and researcher at the Częstochowa School of Teacher Education (1990-1994). Since 1996 he has worked at the Institute of Fine Arts of the Teachers’ College of Rzeszów (now the University of Rzeszów), where he is a professor. He is a member of the Kraków International Print Triennial Association. He specializes in painting, drawing, printmaking and design. He also writes poetry and composes music. Furthermore he is interested in art theory. Recipient of many awards and honorary mentions including the Special Prize at the 7th International Print Biennial in Kraków (1978), the Prix ex Aequo at the 10th International Print Biennial in Kraków (1984), the “Projekt” Prize at the 11th International Print Biennial in Kraków ( 1986), the Grand Prix at the 11th Exposition Internationale de Dessing Originaux in Rijeka (1988, Bosnia and Herzegovina), the Grand Prix at the 3rd Polish Print Triennial in Katowice (1997) and the Grand Prix at the Triennial of Polish Drawing in Lubaczów (1999). Recipient of the City of Rzeszów Award in the art and culture category (2008). His works of art are representative of the trend of geometric abstraction. He treats art as a process in which his creations form elements of a larger whole. He himself calls this process “multi-image thinking” and explains that it consists of presenting the same vision in many pictures.
