Born in Tarnów, 1960. studied under Prof Stanisław Korytko at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. obtained his degree in Painting and Graphic Art in 1989. Since graduation he has remained associated with his alma mater, where he now works as a senior lecturer in the V Drawing Studio of the Department of Drawing."
An artist who will use many forms of artistic expression such as painting, sculpture, drawing, collage and ceramics.
An important role in his works of art is given to text. In his art he explores themes relating to the modern commercialization of social life and the trivialization and depletion of the values of such concepts as faith, patriotism and family. Andrzej Krzysztof Wałaszek is an artist whose every artistic statement encourages critical reflection upon the absurdities, deceptions and false slogans of economic markets, politics, media and religion.
He has participated in many collaborative exhibitions including some famous ones like “Art with a Capital G” (Baltic Gallery of Art in Ustka and Wrocław BWA, 2001), “A Way Of Life” (Centre for Contemporary Art in Gdańsk, 2002), “Souvenir of Wrocław” (Wrocław BWA, Galeria Bielska BWA in Bielsko-Biała, 2003), “Cheap Art Fair” (Galeria Raster in Warsaw, 2004), “Inc.” (Galeria XX1 and Galeria Program in Warsaw in 2004 and Galeria Bielska BWA, Wrocław BWA, Legnica Gallery of Art, Zielona Góra BWA and Galeria Arsenał in Poznań in 2005), “Who is to Groom this Horse” at Galeria Zero in Berlin (2006/07), “Polish Painting of the 21st Century” staged at Zachęta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw (2007), “Tożsamość / Identity” at Otto-Nagel-Galerie in Berlin (2007), “Wit and Judicial Powers (in Poland)”, Ujazdów Castle Centre of Contemporary Art in Warsaw, the “Łaźnia” Centre of Contemporary Art in Gdańsk (2007/08) and “Greetings from Wrocław” displayed at Art NEW media in Warsaw (2008). He has staged several solo exhibitions including “Sconces” at Galeria Ungula (Prague, 2003), “Second Time Lucky in Having it Down to a Fine Art” (with Jerzy Kosałka, 2005) at Galeria Bielska BWA, “TV Programme - 10 Years Later” at Galeria Entropia in Wrocław (2008).
He lives in the Książyce near Wrocław.
