Audio description

From the right: an unbroken chain of four rectangular trapezoids in varying shades of dark and light reds, and a rectangle at the left end of the chain. The figure is set against a background of a sparse grid with white spaces inside black squares. The geometric shapes of different sizes are outlined with straight lines on top and on the sides. The oblique sides of the trapezoids with their diffuse colours along the lower edge form a broad concertinaed outline on the grid. On the right-hand side of the figure is a large bright red rectangular trapezoid with its base along the right edge of the figure. Its colour is diffused by the adjacent, slightly smaller and darker trapezoid of a similar shape. Next to it is a very narrow dark navy blue trapezoid followed by a slightly wider bright red one - both with their bases facing left. On the far left-hand side of the concertinaed figure is a slightly darker rectangle, placed with its longer side along the left edge of the figure. This abstract geometric brings to mind a concertinaed piece of paper with an irregular lower edge. The painting was awarded the Grand Prix at the 37th Biennale of Painting "Bielska Jesień" in 2005.
