Interpretation

Maria – series of works, in which I question, through different mediums, the product of memory in its transfer from body to body in context and over time. The movement and aesthetics of memory are the core of this series, exploring in parallel correlated issues, around the female body and its place lato sensu.

For this series I create visual pieces based on an imaginary portrait of - Maria - in different cultural contexts. A portrait stem from scraps of information’s fused with my own memories and personal reminiscences. The embodiment of memory itself leads me to the symbolic and physical performances with a main focus on feminine embodiment, live memories dimensions, temperatures and anthropometries.

The Woman presented in this works assumes an anonymity by the agglutination of identities which may mirror other Maria’s. A narrative of emotional intersections of a body that receives and channels unconscious marks of the Other.

In a constant redefinition of “what it was” and “how it is remembered”, the multiplicity of pasts generate a post-imaginary memory. Is in this auto-mixed-biographism, that Maria takes one body and multiple faces. Maria is the migrant body in a collective memory pool. In this series she undertakes a voyage to the fauna of mirrors to explore the complexity of memory behaviour.

Series created from 2012 to the present.
