Born in Bielsko-Biała, 1958, died in 2014. Studied at the Faculty of Painting and Graphic Art of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź (1978–1984) under Prof Jerzy Grabowski (Graphic Art), Prof Stanisław Fijałkowski (Painting), Prof Andrzej Gieraga (Drawing) and Prof Leszek Rózga (Drawing); degree in 1984 under Prof Jerzy Grabowski (Lithography) complemented by a drawing presentation under Prof Leszek Rózga; since 1989 a teacher of painting, drawing and art history at the Secondary School of Art in Bielsko-Biała. Since 2000 a lecturer at Cieszyn’s Art Institute of the University of Silesia in Katowice, currently holding the position of associate professor in the Faculty of Painting. Her artistic pursuits involve painting, drawing and history of art. The artistic activity of Jagoda Adamus – a graduate of an academy which cultivates the creative thought of Władysław Strzemiński – is all but devoid of expressions inspired by cold geometry. She draws her inspiration from the entire cultural heritage, especially in the field of painting. Other sources of inspiration involve literature, religious beliefs and traditions and philosophical thought. Her work represents personal reflection on the fundamental problems of existence. Both her life and art are governed by harmony. Her work have been presented at national and international exhibitions in Kraków, Katowicw, Łódź, Poznań, Szczecin, Toruń, Wrocław (Poland), Kanagawa (Japan), Pego Alicante (Spain), Pescara (Italy), Tuzla (Bosnia and Herzegovina), London, Paris and Toronto. Scholarship from the Minister of Culture and Art (1984 and 1986); Artistic Scholarship from the Provincial Governor of Bielsko-Biała (1997). Awards include the Second Prize at the Third National Watercolour Painting Triennial in Lublin (1990); joint award at the Solina ’90 International Interdisciplinary Plein Air Festival in Rzeszów (1991), Grand Prize at the Second National Painting Competition 'Still Life Triennial' in Sieradz (2001), First Prize at the 7th National Biennial of Small Form Painting in Toruń (2007); also a winner of the 'Icarus 2008' for her lifetime achievements in the field of culture and art, awarded by the Mayor of Bielsko-Biała in 2009.
