Visual artist, born in Brzozów, 1982, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków (Faculty of Painting); obtained her Master’s degree with distinction in 2006; won grants from numerous institutions, including: Akademie der Bildenden Kunste, Nuremberg (2005/2006), the City of Kraków (2007), Fundacja Grazella im. Anny Marii Siemieńskiej (2008) and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (2009); winner of the second prize at the 38th 'Bielska Jesień' Painting Biennial in 2007; numerous solo exhibitions including La nostalgie in Otwarta Pracownia [open studio], Kraków (2006), Boazeria [wainscoting] during the Photographic Month, Kraków (2008) and 62m3 in BWA Galeria Sanocka and in his family home in Sanok (2010). The artist’s work, conveying simple ideas, conventionally realistic and poignant, is evocative of a sentimental journey to the land of childlike sensitivity – one filled with a unique emotional climate which is often exorcised from an adult life with all its 'seriousness'. The artist does not fight anything or protest against anything. What she does is perversely mock some of the arrogant canons that we yield to by nourishing stereotypes and habits. With the power of her work she turns the low to the high, and the banal to art.
