Born in Medinskiai village, in Northern Lithuania. In 1956 his family moved to Lepsiai, near Poniewieże. In 1964–1968 he was attending the technical school in Kaunas, where he studied leather goods design, and later (1968–1973) he studied in the faculty of pedagogy in the Institute of Fine Arts in Vilnius.

He visited Poland for the first time in 1972, invitated by a ex-libris collector, Edmund Puzdrowski from Bydgoszcz. In 1973 he received the medal at the VI International Biennial of Modern Ex-libris in Malbork. In 1974 he served in the Red Army. He visited Poland again in 1975 and again, won the medal at the VI Biennial of Ex-libris in Malbork. He has been living in Poland since 1980. In 2010 he received the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture 'Gloria Artis'.  He is active in many areas of art: poster design, book illustration, painting, scenography design, photography, performance, he collaborates with the weekly magazine 'Polityka'.
