Born in Lublin, 1940; graduated from the Secondary School of Visual Arts in Zamość; studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1961–1967); degree received from Prof Eugeniusz Eibisch in 1961.
After graduation, settled in Tychy. In 1969 supported by Eryk Pudełko and the Cultural Department in Tychy he made an attempt to integrate the local community of artists. The same year marked the first exhibition of regional painting, sculpture and graphic art held in Teatr Mały, Tychy.
Received the Grant from the Ministry of Culture and Art (1968, 1969); winner of numerous awards and distinctions, including: the Provincial Awards for Distinguished Paintings (Katowice, 1986), the Second Prize at the 5th Triennial “Contemporary Painting Presentations” (Radom, 1990), 2nd Prize at the competition “Katowice Landscape” (Katowice, 1995).
Participated in exhibitions, competitions and international, national and regional plein-air events since 1967; held over 200 solo exhibitions in Poland and abroad.
In 2010 the artist celebrated his 70th birthday and the 50th year of his creative work. To commemorate the occasion, the Municipal Museum in Tychy held a retrospective exhibition of his work, accompanied by the publication of the album Stanisław Mazuś. Z paletą przez życie [Stanisław Mazuś – through life with a palette]. In 2011 the same exhibition was held in the Municipal Museum in Bielsko-Biała. The exhibition comprised of paintings created in the period between 1957and 2010, including mountain landscapes, still life paintings and portraits – all bearing testimony to the artist’s creativity and filled with talent and passion.
His work can be found in national and private collections in Poland and abroad, including the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
