Born in 1938 in Płoski, Volhynia. Performer, painter, poet, author of numerous publications about the theory of performance and modern art. In the years 1956-1962 he studied architecture at the Technical University in Krakow, and in 1964-1964 he also studied at the Faculty of Industrial Design in the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. Member of the Krakow Group since 1985. One fo the co-founders of the international group The Black Market. His artistic work is processual, with interactive form and emphasis on carnality as a medium. Warpechowski is one of the pioneers and the most outstanding representatives of Polish performance art. For some time now, he has been calling himself an “avant-garde conservatist” (even though this description was first used by the critic, Kazimierz Piotrowski). His performances are very critical towards the contemporary consumerist culture, media dominance, postmodernism and moral liberalism. In 2009 he received the Gold Medal for Merit to Culture “Gloria Artis”. The recordings of his performances were presented at the exhibition “Polish Radical Performers 1967-1989” in Bielska Gallery BWA (17 May - 8 June 2014). During the vernissage on 17 May 2014, he showed the performance titled “Poematki”.
